A guy and a girl have been best friends since they were kids. The guy was in love with the girl, but she never knew. For years, she had been dating many other guys who always broke her heart. She would cry for hours, going through boxes of tissues in minutes, and would talk to her guy friend about her break-up because he always comforted her. He teased her by calling her ”little mermaid”, since she would “swim in her tears”. She would always laugh and he would always make her feel better.

Years passed, and the girl still never found that one special person. After breaking up with her most recent boyfriend, her guy friend, who was still in love with her, came over to her house and handed her a box of tissues while they talked. He held her and hugged her while she cried. The guy noticed she was almost through with the box, so he reached into his pocket and gripped an engagement ring. The girl pulled out the last tissue and read what it said. She looked up at the guy in awe. He took out the ring and said “I’ve been in love with you ever since I met you. So what do you say little mermaid? Will you marry me?”
